Air Quality Testing (IAQ) vs Mold Swab Testing – What is the difference?
It is very important to know what is in the air we breathe in our homes and properties.
Mold does exist everywhere, and mold is part of the natural environment, but if it becomes elevated, it can pose a threat to our health. If you suffer from symptoms or you see something you suspect as visible Mold, testing determines not if there is Mold, but what Mold exits and how much of it.
There are two different types of testing that can be performed, each providing different purposes. If there is visible mold that you can see, a mold swab test can be done to determine what type of mold it is. Now is the mold is not visible, but you have an inclination that it is present, then an Air Quality Test or IAQ should be performed. This will identify if in fact there is mold, how elevated the mold is and what type of mold. Typically an IAQ test is the way to go because the elevation levels of mold is what can be detrimental to your health.
